You show that you are a letter from Christ delivered to us,
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God,
not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Such is the confidence that we have through Christ our God.
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us,
but our sufficiency is from God,
who has made us competent
to be ministers of a new covenant,
not of the letter but of the Spirit.
For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Since we have such a hope,
we are very bold...
when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.
Now the Lord is the Spirit,
and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is freedom.
And we all,
with unveiled face,
beholding the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.
(2 Corinthians 3:3-6; 12-18)
Words to mull over, to saturate your mind.
Beautiful passage.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful song as well.
Although, I must say, this passage reminds me of when we were trying to pick a theme verse for the Deputation trip to Albania and someone suggested 2 Cor. 2:14 through 3:6, which starts off with describing us as "the aroma of Christ". All I could picture was us getting off the plane and the Albanians lifting up our arms and smelling us. Not a fun image.
Thank you for saturating my mind in the fragrance of God's Word.
